Shawn Kallio joined EcoTimber in early 2003 with a background in fundraising and real estate. She has always had a passionate interest in environmental issues. As a student at the University of Arizona, she canvassed for the Arizona League of Conservation Voters, educating Southern Arizonans about the environmental voting records of their legislators. It was with her work at the Leakey Foundation in San Francisco that Shawn learned more about the current state of the world’s most endangered forests, as she was actively fundraising for scientific research into the ecology of the great apes and other primate species.

Shawn co-founded Tucson Green Drinks and served on the Steering Committee for the US Green Building Council’s Southern Arizona Chapter. She now lives in Encinitas, California, with her dog, Klaus and her cat, Pichu.
